The electricity is dead easy
Introduction :
Since a long time, I've noticed that some handy persons were stuck when thinking to modify or do up the electrical installation.
« That's difficult, dangerous.....and if I blow the fuses ! He !.....Tell me how can I do ? ».
I answer them : « Yes ! It is dangerous !.....But I'm going to explain to you a few basic rules ».
Electricity is as knitting : it can be learned. (Eh ! If I've got a good teacher, it's OK !)
Generally, your 230 volts electrical distribution can be composed as below :
Before any intervention and as 2 securities are better than 1, make sure the good fuses and the circuit breaker are cut.
If you can cut the circuit breaker for any reason, do the test by plugging either a voltmeter, or a lamp in the socket or the installation on which you're working.
And remember that the diagram must stay in your mind. Think there are always a power input and output with in the middle a lamp or a socket. Drawing a diagram on a sheet of paper, before any work, will prevent you from much trouble.

The simple switching on : drawing of the principle.
You'll notice there's always a charge between the power input and the output : here, it's a lamp, and the switch is always plugged at first in 230 volts.

The double switching on : drawing of the principle.
That's no more than a simple switching on with a double switch.

Two-way wiring system : drawing of the principle.
We use the two-way wiring system when we need 2 points of lighting : the 2 cables of the middle are called and the switch is a switch.

A switch operated by remote control : drawing of the principle.
We use this kind of switch when we need 3 points of lighting or more.
When you push on one of the buttons, the reel of the switch makes a contact and the lamp is on.
When you let go of the button, the lamp is still on thanks to a mechanical system peculiar to the switch operated by remote control.
A second push on the button and the lamp is off.

Conclusion :
A lamp = socket + bulb.
B 22 means : B as bayonet and 22 is the diameter of the socket.
E 27 means : E as Edison, with screw, and 27 is the diameter of the socket.
A socket for 3 pins plug 2 P + T means : a socket can withstand 250 Volts et 16 amp.
Voltmeter : appliance to measure a tension. (230 volts for example)
Montage in serie : in the simple switching on (for example), the switch is connected in series with the lamp.
Montage in parallel : in the last diagram (a switch operated by remote control), the 3 buttons are connected in parallel and are all in series with the lamp.
Electrify = to get a shock.
Electrocute = to die from electrocution. (make a difference)
